EPIPHANY BANNERS
The Epiphany banners are titled Can You See the Christ? and The Glory of the Lord Came, Christ Jesus. They represent the love, hope, joy and strength of God bringing forth Christ incarnate to the world. The purple shades moving into the vibrant batiks show the arms and heart of God giving the person of Christ to our lives. You can see the powerful love and hope of Jesus in the golds, oranges and intense blues as they rise up from the purples spreading into the world. The gift of Christ given to us on Christmas Day and the recognition of Christ as the Son of God by the Magi with their gifts on Epiphany are represented in both banners.
YOUTH GROUP
The youth group will resume regular meetings this evening with New Year’s Reflections and Gorgon (aka “Monster” game)! For more information, contact youth advisor Tony Fishpaw tony@firstfidelityatl.com.
MEDITATION GROUP FORMING
Meditation is an ancient and widespread practice for calming the mind and clearing our perception. It is an effective, some would say indispensable, stepping stone into a deeper spiritual life and has been practiced in Christianity, as well as other traditions, for millennia. Members and guests of Morningside Presbyterian now have the opportunity to take up this valuable practice in a group setting that provides instruction, warm support, and benign discipline. We will begin this Sunday, January 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Welcome Center. Contact Ken Sharpe kensharpe@bellsouth.net with questions.
SHEARITH ISRAEL SHELTER FOR WOMEN
We continue to support the Shearith Israel Shelter for Women by providing volunteers each evening for 10 days in January. We will be providing two volunteers each night January 5-14, 6 to 10 p.m. to welcome the residents, serve dinner, clean up and prepare lunches for the following day, as well as visit with the ladies. To sign up, see the bulletin board across from the office or contact Melinda Sandkam msandkam@morningsidepc.org. We are still seeking volunteers for January 8, 9, 11 and 13. Today is the last day to contribute to our collection of new or gently used gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, women's coats, slippers, socks, Kosher coffee, tea, and hot chocolate for the women at Shearith Israel Shelter. Please place donations in the Welcome Center baskets.
