CONGREGATIONAL MEETING

Plan to stay a few minutes after worship next Sunday, January 27, for a Congregational Meeting for the purposes of hearing our church budget for 2013 and approving Baron's terms of call.  The 2012 Annual Report will also be available.

TAI CHI RESUMES

Bob Wells invites you to join the now forming Tai Chi practice group. Classes resumed last Tuesday, January 15 and will continue for the next eight weeks.  The group meets for an hour in MPC’s Fellowship Hall. For more information, contact Bob wellscom@comcast.net.

EARLY REGISTRATION FOR MPP

Church members and returning families should take advantage of priority registration for Morningside Presbyterian Preschool which begins this Tuesday, January 22. Contact Preschool Director Sarah Tomaka mpp@morningsidepc.org for more information. Open registration begins Monday, February 4.

PLAN YOUR EVENING NOW!

The 2013 MPP FUN-Raiser will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 9 at Le Maison Rouge. The event will be a fun evening of celebrating our preschool and mingling with our extended MPP family. The centerpiece of our event is a Live and Silent Auction featuring donated items from merchants, families, teachers and of course the art projects from each class!  Contact Sarah Tomaka mpp @morningsidepc.org today to purchase tickets.

WOMENS ROUNDTABLE

This month's Womens Roundtable will be held at the home of Lynn Young (277 The Prado) on January 28 6:30 p.m.  Our speaker will be Erin Levin, a documentary filmmaker who is currently working on a film about the African Children's Choir.  RSVP to kimkperez@gmail.com.  We hope to see you there.

MOVING ATLANTA TO HIGHER GROUND: HOW RELIGION INSPIRES POSITIVE CHANGE

Georgia State's Department of Religious Studies invites you to join the Higher Ground Group - Rev. Joanna Adams, Imam Plemon El-Amin, Rev. Joseph Roberts and Rabbi Alvin Sugarman - at the Rialto Center for the Arts (80 Forsyth St., Atlanta, 30303) on Wednesday, February 6.  Moderated by WXIA's Ted Hall, Higher Ground's faith leaders will discuss the ways that interfaith efforts can contribute to a better Atlanta. A reception is from 5 to 6 p.m. followed by the event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. RSVP to Alicia Clay at aclay6@student.gsu.edu

JOIN YOUR MPC FRIENDS FOR A TRIP TO THE LAND OF BURNS AND BAGPIPES

Morningside’s trip to Scotland is set (August 3-12, 2013) and ready to go – and there’s still plenty of time to sign up.  Kaye Carmichael of Carmichael Travel will be here for an interest meeting following worship on February 10.  If you want to learn more about what the trip includes, where it goes, and who else is going, this is a great opportunity to learn more.  The deadline for registration will be April 19th.  For those who wish to extend their trip, there are limited spaces available to continue to the island of Iona.  Iona is an island in the inner Hebrides (and Baron’s favorite place on earth) where the Iona Community lives in the ancient Abbey.  Please come on February 10th to room 201 to learn more.

SPRING MISSION TRIP

The survey results are in!  MPC invites you to join the adult mission trip March 6-10 (Wed.-Sun.) to once again travel to New Orleans and work with RHINO (Rebuilding Hope in New Orleans) continuing the recovery work from Hurricanes Katrina and Isaac. We will travel on Wednesday, work three days, attend 8:30 a.m. worship at sponsoring church St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian and return home on Sunday. Sign up today on the mission bulletin board and contact shepherd Roland Behm roland.behm@gmail.com with any questions. Make checks payable to MPC for the $150 cost by Sunday, January 27. Can't get away from work this Lent, support mission trips at MPC with a donation of airline points so that a participant may be able to take one less day off work and fly in Wednesday evening.

A FEW HIGH CHAIRS NEEDED

We are thrilled to have so many little ones at congregational lunches and other events at MPC. Though we have a few high chairs, we would welcome the donation of just a few more.  If your child has graduated from their high chair, please consider donating it to MPC for church functions. Contact Program Director Melinda Sandkam msandkam@morningsidepc.org.

SUMMER DATES

Amazingly, summer camps begin their registrations as early as February 1! So do we. Vacation Bible School and Mission Camp registration forms will be on our church website February 1. We hope that your children will join us June 17-21 (VBS) and July 22-26 (Mission Camp).

CONGRATULATIONS TO
