GIVE $2 TO FIGHT HUNGER

At the end of worship, MPC Youth will be holding soup pots as you exit the sanctuary to receive your donations for the Souper Bowl Offering. This nationwide collection on the day of the big game supports efforts to end hunger. Your donation will be given to local agencies that fight hunger - Atlanta Community Food Bank, Intown Collaborative Ministries and Journey.

All are welcome at our congregational lunch following worship today. We have planned for visitors, so PLEASE join us for hearty soups and delicious sandwiches in Fellowship Hall. At 12:30, the MPC Winter Drama Camp is pleased to present the play they have been preparing for the last few weeks. If you must slip out early, please do still come to lunch!

JOIN YOUR MPC FRIENDS FOR A TRIP TO THE LAND OF BURNS AND BAGPIPES

Morningside’s trip to Scotland is set (August 3-12, 2013) and ready to go – and there’s still plenty of time to sign up. Kaye Carmichael of Carmichael Travel will be here for an interest meeting following worship on February 10. If you want to learn more about what the trip includes, where it goes, and who else is going, this is a great opportunity to learn more. The registration deadline will be April 19. For those who wish to extend their trip, there are limited spaces available to continue to the island of Iona. Iona is an island in the inner Hebrides (and Baron’s favorite place on earth) where the Iona Community lives in the ancient Abbey. Please come next Sunday, February 10 to Room 201 at 12:15 p.m. to learn more.

OUTREACH IN NEW ORLEANS

No, we are not going for Mardi Gras.  During the Lenten season, thirteen MPC members and friends will travel to New Orleans to continue work with RHINO (Rebuilding Hope in New Orleans) an outreach of St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian.  This five day trip March 6-10 includes two days of driving. If you are unable to go on the trip, but would like to support mission at MPC, contact shepherd Roland Behm roland. behm@gmail.com to donate airline points that would enable a mission worker to miss one less day of work by flying in Wednesday evening.

SUMMER DATES

Amazingly, summer camps begin their registrations as early as February! So do we. Vacation Bible School and Mission Camp registration forms will be on our church website February 1. We hope that your children will join us June 17-21 (VBS) and July 22-26 (Mission Camp). Turn into the church office completed forms with your check made payable to MPC. Contact Program Director Melinda Sandkam msandkam @morningsidepc.org with questions.

EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT HAS BEGUN!

Take a stroll down the trail that has been forged by Eagle Scouts before me to a piece of MPC history - the pavilion area of the former scout hut for Troop 455 once chartered by MPC. There you will find an outdoor fireplace/BBQ pit.

Phase I is complete: cleaned area, installed weed cloth and covered with wood chips.

Phase II: build and install 2 picnic tables - workdays are scheduled for this weekend. The build will take place at my home on Rock Springs Road and then installed at MPC.

Phase III: clean and repair loose bricks in BBQ pit.

My goal is to create a place for all to enjoy!

Thank you all for your support! - Cameron McIntosh
