Transfiguration of the Lord

9:45 a.m. Church School for all ages; New Member's Class
Adult Class - This Sunday, February 10, the class will continue their work through the gospel of Matthew. Everyone is invited to join Morningside's Adult Sunday School for the complete study or as your schedule permits.

Children: Preschool children will learn how Jesus helped a man who couldn't walk as they hear the story Get Up and Walk. Early Elementary Classes will continue their study of the Lord's Prayer with a lesson on the phrase "Give Us This Day." The 4th and 5th graders will continue their study of Worship with a lesson on Prayer.

All elementary age kids are invited to help make dessert for men staying at Journey this Sunday, February 10.  Meet in Fellowship Hall kitchen at 10 a.m.

LAND OF BURNS AND BAGPIPES
Morningside's trip to Scotland is set (August 3-12) and ready to go - and there's still plenty of time to sign up. Kaye Carmichael of Carmichael Travel will be here for an interest meeting following worship this Sunday, February 10 in Room 201 at 12:15 p.m. If you want to learn more about what the trip includes, this is your opportunity!

 

JOURNEY MEAL
Sign up today on the Mission bulletin board to provide part of the meal for the 30 men staying at Journey on Sunday, February 10.  Contact shepherd Richard Alexander rich.alexander@comcast.net with any questions.

GIVE A $10 VALENTINE
Each year, MPC collects $10 gift cards for the ladies staying at Shearith Israel Shelter for Women. Leave your $10 valentine in the heart bag on the mission bulletin board by this Sunday, February 10. Suggested cards include CVS, Target, Walgreens, Kroger, Publix.

 

THEOLOGY ON TAP
The next meeting of the men of Morningside, Theology on Tap, will be tonight, February 5 at 7 p.m. Alan Bremer (785 Cumberland Road, 30306) will be our host. RSVP to the church office office@morningsidepc.org.

MOVING ATLANTA TO HIGHER GROUND
Georgia State invites you to join the Higher Ground Group - Rev. Joanna Adams, Imam Plemon El-Amin, Rev. Joseph Roberts and Rabbi Alvin Sugarman - at the Rialto Center for the Arts this Wednesday, February 6. These faith leaders will discuss the ways that interfaith efforts can contribute to a better Atlanta.

   

COUPLES GROUP
Our Couples Group will meet at 7 p.m. this Friday, February 8, at Manuel's Tavern (602 N. Highland Ave.). All couples welcome. RSVP to kdbremer@bellsouth.net.

MORNINGSIDE PRESBYTERIAN PRESCHOOL
The preschool's 2013 FUN-Raiser is at 7 p.m. this Saturday, February 9 at Le Maison Rouge. If you would like to attend, contact Sarah Tomaka at mpp@morningsidepc.org to purchase tickets. Open registration is currently going on for next year's school year. To register your child or for more information, you may also contact Sarah. 

THREADS COLLECTION
Support our annual Threads collection of new pajamas, socks and underwear for children in need. Threads is devoted to clothing children, (birth through 5th grade) with clean, durable clothing and footwear. Bring items to baskets in the Welcome Center or to the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on February 12. 

SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE SUPPER AND PAJAMA PARTY
Next Tuesday, February 12, 5:30-6:45 p.m. all are invited to celebrate Shrove Tuesday at our annual church and preschool Pancake Supper and Pajama Party in Fellowship Hall. Enjoy dinner for the family while The Magic Man delights us with his tricks and antics! Wear your PJs! RSVP by tomorrow, February 6. Volunteers are needed. ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE
Lent begins at Morningside with our worship service and imposition of ashes next Wednesday, February 13 at 7 p.m. (childcare will be available). Please join us. 

LGBT & FRIENDS
All are invited to join LGBT & Friends on Tuesday, February 19.  LGBT & Friends welcomes all who wish to grow and be energized through Christian fellowship and service. This month's topic is Turning Points: Individual Stories of Sexual Orientation and Faith.
