SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

Emmerson Marie Millard, daughter of Amy and Brad Millard will receive the sacrament of baptism this morning.

SANCTUARY FLOWERS

The flowers in the sanctuary are given to the glory of God and in honor of the ordination of Bart Smith as a teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA).

LAY READER

In keeping with the Presbyterian tenet of the priesthood of all believers, Morningside members participate regularly in worship leadership. This Sunday's lay reader is Nancy Hamilton.

BART SMITH ORDINATION

Congratulations to Bart Smith, who will be ordained by the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta this afternoon at 4 p.m. in our sanctuary. Please plan to attend this very special service and to congratulate Bart on the official start of his ordained ministry!

WOMEN’S ROUNDTABLE

The next meeting of Women's Roundtable will be tomorrow, February 25 at 6:30 p.m. hosted by Hillery McNeill (20 Stratford Place, 30342).  In honor of President's Day, our speaker will be Caron Morgan, the mother of James Carter IV and former daughter-in-law of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter. She will share stories and memorabilia of her time in the White House. RSVP to Kim Perez kimkperez@ gmail.com

YOGA AT MORNINGSIDE

The new session begins this week on February 26, and meets every Tuesday from 11 to 12:15 p.m. for six weeks in Room 201. Breathing, exercising, stretching, and relaxing are among the many benefits, and it’s fun! Wear comfy clothes, and bring a mat if you like. Props will be provided. To register, contact Pam Sharpe yogapam@bellsouth.net.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Our annual Habitat for Humanity build with other area churches kicked off yesterday, and completes April 13. We’ll also provide lunch March 16. Though welcome to sign up any Saturday, Drew Stockstill invites Young Adults to sign up March 23. Come work with MPC and First Presbyterian Young Adults. Look for signup sheets on the Habitat bulletin board or contact Lynsley Tyler lynsley @bellsouth.net for details.

OUTREACH IN NEW ORLEANS

Fourteen MPC members and friends will travel to New Orleans to continue work with Rebuilding Hope in New Orleans an outreach of St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian. This trip (March 6-10) includes two days of driving. If you are unable to go, but would like to support  MPC missions, contact shepherd Roland Behm roland.behm@gmail.com to donate airline points that would enable a mission worker to miss one less day of work by flying in Wednesday evening.

YOUNG ADULTS will gather at George's (1041 N. Highland Ave.) after worship today. All are invited to join us for lunch. For more information, contact Van Jensen van.jensen@gmail.com.

OUR HOUSE IN MARCH

Please bring your gently used spring and summer children’s clothing (infant-5 year olds) to the Welcome Center baskets from March 4-24. We will also collect diapers (all sizes) and wipes to be donated to Our House, a preschool in Decatur for children facing homelessness. This great outreach is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a fundraiser on Saturday, March 16 at The Commerce Club.  Buy your tickets on line today at www.ourhousega.org to support a great cause to enjoy a fabulous evening!

REGISTRATION FOR MPP

Registration for Morningside Presbyterian Preschool is taking place now. Contact Preschool Director Sarah Tomaka mpp@morningsidepc.org for more information.

BE GREEN FOR ST. PATRICK'S DAY WEEKEND (AND THE EARTH!)

On Saturday, March 16 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon MPP will partner with Atlanta Paint Disposal http://www.atlantapaintdisposal.com/ to collect and recycle or dispose of household items in an environmentally friendly manner. The collection site will be the preschool parking lot, and MPP will earn 15 percent profit of items collected. That profit will help fund preschool environmental projects. This is a great way to care for our earth and clean out your home!

CALL FOR MPC GARDENERS!

Grab your gardening gloves and a shovel and join us for a workday on the MPC grounds, Saturday, March 16, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. It’s a good way to spruce up for spring and get to know other members of the congregation. We’ll be working primarily in the Sara Richey Garden and around the Welcome Center entrance. The group will go to Alon’s for a celebratory sandwich after we finish.

MPC AT THE BRAVES GAME!

Spring is approaching and that means baseball is here again! Jack Klotz has gotten MPC some great seats for the Sunday, April 7 game against the Cubs (1:30 p.m.). Tickets are $22 per person and seats are located in the outfield between the newly acquired Upton brothers. Contact Katherine Johnston kecjohnston@gmail.com to secure your tickets or for information.

SUMMER DATES

Vacation Bible School and Mission Camp registration forms are on our church website and the bulletin boards across from the nursery room 105. We hope that your children will join us June 17-21 (VBS) and July 22-26 (Mission Camp). (See registration form for information on a drama camp within VBS this year). Turn completed forms into the church office with your check made payable to MPC. Contact Program Director Melinda Sandkam msandkam@morningsidepc.org with questions including scholarship information.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY SEEKS ONCE-A-MONTH VOLUNTEER

We have the perfect, get-your-feet-wet volunteer job for you!  Melinda needs help working on projects, running errands, and organizing for our children's programs. You wouldn't need to be at church daily or even weekly--if you can commit a few hours just once a month, you would be an ideal volunteer!  Are you a young stay-at-home parent who needs a reason to get dressed, leave the house, and be near adults occasionally? Here's your chance! New to retirement but don't want to overcommit? Perfect!  Are you one of the lucky workers of the corporate world who also has a flexible schedule? Contact Melinda msandkam@morningsidepc.org to discuss this exciting volunteer opportunity!

 - Laura Fillyaw, Children & Youth Team Leader

CONGRATULATIONS TO

Rich and Jen Powell on the birth of their son Brooks Thomas Powell on February 13 (big sister is Ansley).

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT MORNINGSIDE

Next Sunday, March 3, the class will continue their work through the gospel of Matthew. Everyone is invited to join Morningside's Adult Sunday School for the complete study or as your schedule permits.

Children’s Classes

In the story A Scary Storm preschool children will learn what happened when Jesus' helpers were frightened by a storm.
