Baron Mullis preaching
"The Rocks are Gonna Cry Out!"
Texts: Luke 22:45-53; Luke 19:28-40
HOLY WEEK BANNERS
Banner #1 is entitled "Grace of the Earth." The green fabrics and batik prints of foliage represent the path strewn with branches and palm leaves laid to honor Jesus as he entered Jerusalem. The batiks show the clouding of the sun in the sky with gray-green shading. The fabrics move from light to dark representing the impending crucifixion.
Banner #2 is entitled "God's Power in our Midst" and symbolizes the night of Jesus' arrest and ultimately the crucifixion. The rust and gold batiks our eye sees visually interpret the blood moon with the brown, gold and dark batiks left to represent the wrenching agony of the event. Again, the fabric coloring moves from light to dark representing the power of God's love of humanity through Christ's life, death and resurrection.
WOMEN’S ROUNDTABLE
Women's Roundtable meets tomorrow, March 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Lynn Young's home (277 The Prado, 30309). Our speaker will be Nicole Cromartie, Coordinator of Museum Interpretation at the High Museum of Art. Nicole will speak to us about the museum's current and upcoming exhibits. RSVP to Peyton Chambers at peytonchambers@icloud.com.
ONE GRAY HAIR LUNCHEON
One Gray Hair invites anyone who has one to their noon lunch meeting this Wednesday, March 27. Get some insight for the church’s summer trip to Scotland as our own Baron Mullis discusses “Celtic Spirituality” after lunch. RSVP to Sarah Brownlee rsbrownlee 046@att.net.
SEEKING A SHEPHERD
You might ask what do "shepherds" do at MPC. This is the title for those leading each of our outreach opportunities. Many members support each effort but one member in particular coordinates the efforts and champions the needs of each outreach. Some of our shepherds serve for many years feeling a special attachment to a certain outreach. Others commit for a year or two before moving on to other ways to serve. We have just welcomed new shepherds Becky Schreiber for Our House and Phyllis Grimes for Shearith Israel Shelter for Women. We currently have a vacancy for the shepherd for Journey (formerly named the Druid Hills Men’s Shelter). MPC has a long-standing relationship with Journey and wants to continue to support the good work they do to empower men in finding a home and employment. There is a strong group of regular "cooks" that help provide a monthly meal for 30 men including the Youth Group and Young Adults but we must find a shepherd. Contact Community Outreach Chair Eleanor Attwood today eattwood74@yahoo.com so that we can continue to support the men at Journey.
