THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. - Martin Luther King, Jr.
HOLY WEEK BANNERS
Banner #1 is entitled "Grace of the Earth." The green fabrics and batik prints of foliage represent the path strewn with branches and palm leaves laid to honor Jesus as he entered Jerusalem. The batiks show the clouding of the sun in the sky with gray-green shading. The fabrics move from light to dark representing the impending crucifixion.
Banner #2 is entitled "God's Power in our Midst" and symbolizes the night of Jesus' arrest and ultimately the crucifixion. The rust and gold batiks our eye sees visually interpret the blood moon with the brown, gold and dark batiks left to represent the wrenching agony of the event. Again, the fabric coloring moves from light to dark representing the power of God's love of humanity through Christ's life, death and resurrection.
