WORSHIP MAY 5, 2013
SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

THE GATHERING Drew Stockstill
Leader: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.

THE PRELUDE Walter Huff, organist

* THE CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: “Praise the Lord, all you nations! Extol him, all you peoples!
People: For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the
Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!”
Leader: Let us worship God, who creates us, redeems us and sustains us. Amen.
- Psalm 117

* THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 489 Open Now Thy Gates of Beauty

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Eternal God, remind us of your love for us as we prepare to come to your table.
Give us knowledge of ourselves that we might acknowledge our sin, take comfort
in your forgiveness freely given, and turn ourselves to the way you would
have us go. We ask these things because we know that we have sinned, and we
need forgiveness. And forgiving us, call us again to offer the grace we have received
to others. We pray this in the name of the one who calls all who are
weary and carrying heavy burdens to come and rest, our Lord Jesus. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is,
seated at the right hand of God.
People: Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth,
for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Leader: When Christ who is your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in
glory. Believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. - Colossians 3:1-4
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 466)

abroad the honors of Thy name.

Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with the choirs of heaven

glory of your name:
