THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them. - A.A. Milne

ONE GRAY HAIR

One Gray Hair will meet for lunch and a program this Wednesday, May 15 at noon in Fellowship Hall. Our associate pastor, Drew Stockstill and his wife Ellen, will present a program on Kenya. Drew has visited Kenya on work/mission trips, and Ellen has lived in Kenya. This program will be of special interest to many of us as MPC looks at a mission trip to this country in the near future. RSVP to Sarah and Richard Brownlee rsbrownlee1046@att.net.

PENTECOST BANNERS 2012
We recognize Pentecost as the beginning of Christ's church. Titled "Anointing Power," the pair of banners you will see at the front of the sanctuary this Sunday makes use of batik fabrics in red, gold and yellow. The movement in the fabrics conveys the power and energy of the Holy Spirit coming upon the apostles as tongues of fire, inspiring and enabling the start of the church. This Living Spirit that moved on that first Pentecost continues to move in our midst and in our souls across all boundaries and throughout all time.

CONFIRMATION THIS SUNDAY
The following youth will receive the rite of confirmation this Sunday, May 19 (confirmation mentors are listed in parenthesis following each youth):

  • Zoe Bach (Miranda Brownlee)

  • Lucy Grant (Hillery McNeil)

  • Lindsey Howell (Carolyn Cobb)

  • Cade Lawson (John Watson)

  • Nicholas Lazzaro (Van Jensen)

  • Taylor Morton (Lloyd Prince)

Congratulations to them all!
