FLOWERS THIS SUNDAY

The flowers in the sanctuary are given by the parents of the confirmands to the glory of God and in grateful appreciation for the confirmand’s mentors who have generously shared their faith, understanding and time with the youth over the last five months. Those confirmands and mentors are: Zoe Bach (Miranda Brownlee), Joseph Cochran (Jack Klotz), Lucy Grant (Hillery McNeil), Lindsey Howell (Carolyn Cobb), Cade Lawson (John Watson), Nicholas Lazzaro (Van Jensen), and Taylor Morton (Lloyd Prince). Congratulations to them all!

JOIN US FOR LUNCH TODAY
We always plan for guests, so don't hesitate to join us in Fellowship Hall following worship to enjoy Fox Brothers barbecue. This is also a further opportunity to celebrate the Cherub Choir and our new confirmands.

MPP CELEBRATION
Please join us in congratulating the 22 children completing pre-k at MPP this year. Their graduation celebration is tomorrow, May 20. We wish them well as they move to elementary school, and we want to thank all our MPP teachers and families for a great year!

LGBT & FRIENDS
LGBT & Friends will take a summer break after gathering at the home of Ann Bowers and Maria Ragland this Tuesday, May 21 at 7 p.m. All are welcome to come and help kick around discussion topics for fall and winter meetings. RSVP to Michael Siedschlag michaelmspnyc@yahoo.com.

THINKING ABOUT JOINING MORNINGSIDE
Morningside will offer visitors the following opportunities to learn more about our church. On Sunday, May 26 we will hold an Inquirers Class followed by a New Members Class on Sunday, June 2. Both will be held in the Session Room at 9:45 a.m. For more information or to register, please contact Baron Mullis (404.876.7396, ext. 11; baron.mullis @morningsidepc.org).

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Register now for VBS June 17-21, from 8:45 a.m. to 12 noon with a closing program on Friday at noon. Meet at the Marketplace is open to those who are 4 years old (by September 1) through the 5th grade with leadership roles available for Youth. The registration/volunteer form can be found on our website and the bulletin boards at church. Deadline for registering is next Sunday, May 26, so we can confirm volunteers and supplies. We are accepting donations of newspapers to build our “well.” Please bring to Room 001. Contact Melinda Sandkam msandkam @morningsidepc.org to volunteer and for additional details including scholarship information.

4TH-5TH GRADE OUTING
All 4th and 5th graders are invited to an end-of-year bowling outing on Sunday, June 2 right after worship. RSVP to Melinda today and let us know if your parent would be able to drive/chaperone.

FOOD & FELLOWSHIP AT CLIFTON
We have another opportunity to help provide dinner to 30 homeless men living at Clifton Sanctuary Ministries. The men are working hard, so help us provide them with fellowship and food this Saturday, May 25. We will need chicken cutlets and sides delivered by 5:30 p.m. to the shelter, and then we hope you choose to stay to help serve the food you've prepared. A sign-up sheet is on the mission board, or you may contact David Johnston dmjohnst@hotmail.com for more information.

SUPPORT SENIORS THIS SPRING
Donate items through May 26 for the emergency pantry at Presbyterian Home for Seniors at Calvin Court. Some of the needed items include: toilet paper, paper towels, canned meats, non-perishable microwavable meals, hearty soups, peanut butter and breakfast items.  Please bring your donated items to the baskets in the Welcome Center.

NEW CHURCH DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
We hope you will join us as we partner with other congregations supporting a gardening project at a New Church Development in Clarkston on Saturday, June 8.  Sign up to participate on the mission bulletin board or contact Jack Klotz jacksklotz@gmail.com or Lloyd Prince lloydprince@comcast.net for more information.

SPECIAL JUNE CONCERT
On Sunday, June 9, at 4 p.m., the Atlanta Opera’s High School Opera Institute singers, led by Walter Huff, will return to our sanctuary, and we’re invited. This will be the third year MPC has welcomed the free ‘graduation’ concert of these young vocalists that culminates the 2012-2013 High School Opera educational program and features young singers from public and private schools throughout the area. In addition, members of the Lenten Youth Ensemble (or others interested in future youth ensembles) are encouraged to attend and go out to eat afterwards. Contact Lisa Jern lisa.jern@sablaw.com or Kim Perez kimkperez@gmail.com to RSVP.

MISSION CAMP
If you are completing 2nd grade or higher, you won't want to miss our fifth year of It's Not All About Me Mission Camp, July 22-26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day with overnight adventure to Len Foote Hike Inn on Thursday. This hands-on experience with mission includes outreaches to children and seniors, the environment and animals, and many who are facing hunger or homelessness here in Atlanta. With daily outings, we need lots of volunteers and also those dedicated overnight leaders who are willing to hike in and out to Len Foote. Registration forms are due NO LATER than Sunday, June 2 and can be found at church and on our website. Contact Melinda to volunteer or for more information including scholarships.
