SANCTUARY FLOWERS
The flowers in the sanctuary are given to the glory of God and in celebration of Cindy and Bill Humphries' 40th  wedding anniversary by Betsy and Jason Holland.

WELCOME SALLY HORNE!
As our summer children's worship begins, we welcome our new children's worship leader, Sally Horne, who will lead the 3rd-5th graders. Sally comes to us by way of Charlotte, NC, and Rock Hill, SC. A recent graduate of Agnes Scott College, she enjoys studying Southern History and has spent a year in Rennes, France, studying the French language. A lifelong Presbyterian and the daughter of PC (USA) ministers, Sally has experience leading children in worship from three summers at camp in Gracefield, Quebec, with the Presbyterian Church in Canada and one summer at Bethelwoods Camp/Conference Center in York, SC, with PC (USA). Sally works with Literacy Action Inc., helping functionally illiterate adults become readers. Please give Sally a warm welcome.

SPECIAL JUNE CONCERT AT MPC
Next Sunday, June 9, at 4 p.m., the Atlanta Opera’s High School Opera Institute singers, led by Walter Huff, will return to our sanctuary, and we’re invited. This will be the third year MPC has welcomed the free ‘graduation’ concert of these young vocalists that culminates the 2012-2013 High School Opera educational program and features young singers from public and private schools throughout the area. The program will offer selections by Handel, Purcell, Mozart, Bizet, Puccini, Copland, and others. Some previous alumni will also perform. In addition, members of the Lenten Youth Ensemble (or others interested in future youth ensembles) are encouraged to attend and go out to eat afterwards. Contact Lisa Jern lisa.jern@sablaw.com or Kim Perez kimkperez@gmail.com to RSVP.

JOURNEY SHELTER
Please help us serve the Journey Shelter by picking a pan today, located in the Narthex, for food to serve next Sunday, June 9 at 6 p.m. Volunteers can either meet at Journey to help serve or leave filled pans in MPC’s kitchen Sunday morning. If you have any questions, please contact Tamara Nix at tamaranix @yahoo.com.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
VBS June 17-21 Meet at the Marketplace is only two weeks away! See requests on the bulletin board across from the office that include some recycled items such as newspapers and old herbs or spices and others that are just loans for our Marketplace props - such as blankets, material, clay pots and pitchers. Help us stock our village marketplace. See donation requests in the Welcome Center for snack supplies. Bring supplies no later than June 16. Contact Melinda Sandkam msandkam @morningsidepc.org to volunteer.

MISSION CAMP
If you are completing 2nd grade or higher, you won't want to miss our fifth year of It's Not All About Me Mission Camp, July 22-26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day with overnight adventure to Len Foote Hike Inn on Thursday. This hands-on experience with mission includes outreaches to children and seniors, the environment and animals, and many who are facing hunger or homelessness here in Atlanta. With daily outings, we need lots of volunteers and also those dedicated overnight leaders who are willing to hike in and out to Len Foote. Registration forms are due TODAY and can be found at church and on our website. Contact Melinda to volunteer or for more information including scholarships.

NEW CHURCH DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
We hope you will join us as we partner with other congregations supporting a gardening project at a New Church Development in Clarkston next Saturday, June 8. Sign up to participate on the mission bulletin board or contact Jack Klotz jacksklotz@gmail.com or Lloyd Prince lloydprince@comcast.net for more information.

SUMMER YOGA
Morningside will begin summer classes on Tuesday, June 11 and continue each Tuesday through July 16.  Veteran Yoga teacher, Pam Sharpe, invites you to join her fabulous band of students to explore the joys and benefits of a gentle yoga practice.  Bend, extend, strengthen, and relax on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. in Room 201. All you need is comfy clothes. For more information contact Pam at yogapam@bellsouth.net.

SIX STAR
Six Star Refugee Partnership is in urgent need of a used vehicle for their newest family from the Congo. This is a wonderful couple coming to us via St. John's Lutheran Church and the husband desperately needs transportation to his night job in Gwinnett County. If you can help, please contact Holly Campbell hollycampbell1@gmail.com.

TORNADO RESPONSE
As needs are being assessed following the tornado in Moore, OK, you may want to do something immediately. Morningside has for a long time been a supporting congregation for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. PDA is known for their long-term planning in recovery efforts as evidenced by on-going work for New Orleans, Haiti, Japan, and the Northeast of the United States after super-storm Sandy. You may donate directly by going to www.pcusa.org or you may donate through Morningside by marking your check for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. As always, we will continue to look for ways to share God's love following these tragic events.

AN ADDITION TO YOUR SUMMER READING
Copies of the devotional booklet Our Daily Bread (for June, July, and August) are available in the narthex and the welcome center. You may pick up a copy as you leave church today.
