Leader: The Lord be with you.

* THE CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Praise the Lord!

* THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 274 O God of Earth and Space

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, you alone are holy. You alone are greater than our minds can
conceive. You alone are the beginning and end. You are a holy mystery beyond
explanation, and worthy of worship. We confess that we fail to worship you as
you are. We blur the distinction between creator and creation. We lapse into
idolatry seeking to impose our image on you in place of holy mystery. Forgive
us, we pray and open our minds to the wideness of your unexpected, unpredictable
grace. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: God so loved the world that he sent his only Son, so that whoever believes in him may
not perish but have eternal life.
People: Indeed, God sent the Son not into the world that the world might
be condemned but so that the world through him might be saved.
Leader: Believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. John 3:16-17
