THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
The grace of God means something like: Here is your life. You might never have been, but you are because the party wouldn't have been complete without you.
- Frederick Buechner
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Help is still needed for clean-up this Friday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. following closing ceremonies for VBS. Contact Melinda Sandkam msandkam@morningsidepc.org to volunteer. Please help us make VBS happen for 55 kids!
SPECIAL GUEST FOR ADULT EDUCATION
All are encouraged to join the Adult Sunday School class at 9:45 a.m. this Sunday and next (June 23,30) for a two-part series, led by special guest Melanie Johnson, called 'Esther: Behind the Mask.' Melanie is a recent graduate of Columbia Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. student at Claremont School of Theology. She will guide the class in the first week through the Old Testament book of Esther's "revealed" story and in the second week explore Esther's hidden meanings. This class meets in Room 201 and welcomes all. No special knowledge required. No questions are bad questions.
SUMMER FELLOWSHIP HOUR
If you can help coordinate Fellowship Hour during the months of July and August, please contact Mary Chapman chapman.maryv@gmail.com or 404.234.0560. Fellowship Hour is a snap if there are four people to provide a sweet, a savory, something fresh and punch. If you can provide any one of those things on July 7 or August 4, 11 or 19, please contact Daniel Easton at dje567@ymail.com.
WELCOME HOME BASKETS
This Sunday, June 23, we begin the collection of items to assemble baskets of household goods for the men of Clifton. They receive these baskets when they move into a new home and are able to fill their pantries and cabinets with essentials. Please claim the needed items from the Welcome Center display and bring them in by July 14. Contact Shepherds David or Katherine Johnston dmjohnst@gmail.com, kecjohnston@gmail.com with questions.
MISSION CAMP
Our fifth year of It's Not All About Me Mission Camp is July 22-26, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with an overnight adventure to Len Foote Hike Inn on Thursday. This hands-on experience with mission includes outreach to children and seniors, the environment and animals, and many who are facing hunger or homelessness here in Atlanta. With daily outings, we need lots of volunteers and also dedicated overnight leaders who are willing to hike in and out to Len Foote. Contact Melinda Sandkam.
SAVE THE DATE
Mark your calendars for October 25-27. All members are invited to attend our church-wide retreat in Montreat, North Carolina, featuring speaker Tom Long!
OUR SYMPATHY TO
