People: All the earth worships you; they sing praises to you.

-Psalm 66

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy God, your loving kindness surrounds us at all times. You lift us from pits
of despair, hopelessness, and fear. You heal our hurt and brokenness. But we
confess that we often don’t feel your presence. We fear you do not hear our
cries. We wonder if you even see us. In our pain we turn to you and demand a
response but in our comfort and prosperity we are often the ones who forget
you, do not listen for your voice, and turn our faces from you. Forgive our willful
ignorance and pride, O God. Help us to be mindful of your loving kindness
in our lives and to turn to you in times of pain and in times of joy. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
People: God will not always accuse or be angry forever. God does not deal
with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our
wrongful acts.
Leader: For as the heavens are high about the earth, so great is God’s steadfast love toward us.
So believe the good news of the gospel!
People: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! -Psalm 103
