People: House of prayer for many hearts; home to all who come.
Leader: Welcome to this gathering place:
People: Friend and stranger, saint and sinner in all who gather here.
Leader: Come with hope or hesitation; come with joy or yearning; all who hunger,
all who thirst for life in all its fullness.
People: Generous God and generous Savior, touch us through the power of
your Spirit.

THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, we are unworthy to come into your presence because of our
many sins. We do not deserve any grace or mercy from you. We have sinned
against you, and we have offended you. And yet, O Lord, as we acknowledge our
sins and offenses, so also do we acknowledge you to be a merciful God, a loving
and favorable parent, to all who turn to you. And so we humbly ask you, for the
sake of Christ your son, to show mercy to us, and forgive us all our offenses. By
your Spirit, O God, take possession of our hearts, so that, not only the actions of
our life, but also the words of our mouths, and the smallest thoughts of our
minds, may be guided and governed by you. Amen.

with their deep and solemn roar. Hallelujah, praise the Lamb! Glory to the great I Am! And
my soul though stained with sorrow, fading as the light of day, passes swiftly over those waters
to the city far away. Souls have crossed before me, saintly, to that land of perfect rest, and I
hear them singing faintly in the mansions of the blest.
