Baron Mullis preaching, "Half? Four Times?"

Text: Luke 19:1-10

TODAY’S SERVICE MUSIC
Johannes Brahms, 1833-1897, wrote the 11 Chorale Preludes in the last year of his life. These pieces are small gems in organ literature. Brahms and his close friends, Robert and Clara Schumann, studied organ, but they all found it a difficult instrument to master.
YOUTH ENSEMBLE
The Morningside Youth Ensemble will be singing three anthems this morning. The Prelude anthem is Lord I Praise You by Sandy Wilkinson. After the Minute Message, the youth will be joined by the adult choir to sing Fairest Lord Jesus by Calvin Hampton. Their Offertory anthem is Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burnin' by Greg Gilpin with Megan Mashburn on solo descant.
YOUTH IN NOVEMBER
This evening, we return to our regular Youth Group time of 5 to 7 p.m.  Next Sunday, middle-school youth prepare the meal for men at Journey Shelter from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., and the high schoolers arrive at 5:45 to deliver and serve the food.  Don't forget to RSVP for bowling on Sunday afternoon, November 17.
MPC GIVES THANKS FOR OUR PRESCHOOL COMMUNITY
Come explore the spirit of giving at our annual Thanksgiving Gathering, Monday, November 11 from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Join us for dinner in Fellowship Hall and stay for face painting, crafts, and games. Help kick off our Atlanta Community Food Bank food drive by bringing in non-perishable items. RSVPs are requested by November 7 for this free event!  MPC members are encouraged to volunteer for the whole event or one of three shifts: Shift 1 - Setup (4-5:15 p.m.); Shift 2 -  Serving food and leading activities (5:15-6:30 p.m.); and Shift 3 - Cleanup (6:15-7:30 p.m.).  Contact Emilee Terry to RSVP/volunteer emileeraeterry@gmail.com, 618.978.9895.
MPC SUPPORTS ICM
Intown Collaborative Ministries provides a range of comprehensive services to our neighbors including a food pantry, food co-operative, clothing closet, jobs and housing assistance.  ICM’s food pantry is supported by congregations, individuals, businesses, and organizations in zip codes 30306 and 30307. Our church volunteers work the food pantry several times a year, checking in our homeless guests, interviewing them about food needs and filling their bags with non-perishable food and bread. We need at least 8 to 10 volunteers on our workdays. The next food pantry workday is this Saturday, November 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 pm. Please sign up on the bulletin board to volunteer or email shepherd Nancy Collins ncollins0209@gmail.com, 404.804.5191 (location-Druid Hills United Methodist Church 1200 Ponce de Leon Avenue NE).
PAGEANT SIGN-UPS
The sign-up form to participate in the Christmas Pageant is available on our website and at the church. Be sure to fill it out and return to the church by today. See the form for details regarding ages and practices. Sewing volunteers are needed.

THEOLOGY ON TAP
Our next Theology on Tap will be this Tuesday, November 5, at 7 p.m. Curt Barrett will host (1365 North Morningside Drive, 30306), and his home is within easy walking distance from the church. Baron’s discussion topic will be “Finding Meaning in Work and Life.” RSVP to office@morningsidepc.org.

OUR SYMPATHY TO
Gloria Joiner on the death of her sister-in-law, Jean Joiner, on October 26 in Cumming, Georgia.
Christian Education at Morningside
Next Sunday, November 10 we will continue our class with a focus on Advent  taught by Rev. Dana Hughes. We are invited to engage in a four-week study of the Gospel of James. This Gospel provides a fascinating glimpse into the lives of Mary and Joseph and prompts an excavation through the layers of fact, fable and faith. Join us each Sunday in November at 9:45 a.m. in Room 201. Dana is a professional Interim Pastor and former Moderator of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta.
"THE BIBLE" SUNDAY SCHOOL...If you are interested in learning more about the story of Jesus in the Bible, join our class, Sunday at 9:15 a.m. in Room 107 as we make our way into the New Testament using the History Channel mini-series "The Bible." This class has been a great success, and we'd love for you to join the class on November 17 and 24. Breakfast and coffee provided.
CHILDREN’S CLASSES...Preschool children hear about the time when God chose Moses to lead God's people in a story about the "burning bush" titled I'll Do It. Elementary classes will learn how Jeremiah, God's messenger, was equipped for his work with the people of Judah. The 4th and 5th grade will be in worship.

Keep in your prayers...

Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.        - Philippians 4:6-7
