Baron Mullis preaching

“Keep Awake...Keep Awake…”

Texts: Romans 13:11-14; Matthew 24:36-44

WELCOME GUEST ORGANIST
We welcome Sandy Land today as guest organist. Sandy is recently retired as Administrator of the CHARA Project, a project in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Georgia State University. She is now studying to become a yoga instructor.

ADVENT BANNERS
Advent means a coming or arrival. The Advent banners represent the coming of the promises of God through Christ Jesus. The theme of the ban- ners is “Heart Root Promises of God: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love.” Purple batiks symbolize the living, powerful energy of the Holy Spirit bringing forth the promises through Christ into the world. Colors of green, blue, pink and gold signify the power and ever continuing evolution of these promises.

TALK BACK TO THE PREACHER
If you've ever wanted to ask Baron more about something he's preached, or to hear what scripture teaches about something, and you don't happen to find yourself in a class or have the right moment, you are invited to come to Room 201 following worship next Sunday, December 8. We can talk about whatever you want to talk about - the ser- mon, the way we plan worship, what's going on in the Presbytery, or whatever! This is your chance.

YOUTH GROUP
The youth will take a break this evening for Thanksgiving weekend. Mark your calendars for our Christmas party next Sunday, December 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. The youth and their advisors are encouraged to bring a wrapped gift ($10) for a “white elephant” exchange at the party. RSVP to Chris Peters chrispeters @morningsidepc.org for the party and also if you can help with chili and soup dinner on Sunday evening December 15 as this month's service event.

THEOLOGY ON TAP
Our next Theology on Tap will be this Tuesday, December 3, at 7 p.m. Our host will be Peter Cobb (1150 St. Charles Place, 30306). RSVP to the church office@morningsidepc.org.

FAMILY CHRISTMAS TREE
This year, we will have a large, live tree in the Fel- lowship Hall to hold your special ornaments. We're inviting members of our faith community to con- tribute one, non-breakable ornament to decorate this tree. Place your special ornament in the collec- tion baskets around the church (December 1-15).

SPECIAL MUSIC SUNDAY
Chancel Choir is having a holly-jolly time preparing musical selections for Sunday, December 15, and there is sure to be something in this bouquet for everyone to enjoy - can you get to the root of the problem and guess the theme that will tie the music together?

ANNUAL CANNED FOOD COLLECTION
Our annual collection of non-perishable items for the Atlanta Community Food Bank is in full swing. Mac 'n cheese, peanut butter, canned veggies, meats, fruits and low sugar whole grain cereals are welcome. Help us fill our five canis- ters by December 15!

NEW “OUR DAILY BREAD” AVAILABLE
Copies of the devotional booklet, Our Daily Bread, (December through February) are avail- able in the Narthex and Welcome Center. Pick one up as you leave the sanctuary this morning.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT WOMEN'S SHELTER
Morningside will provide volunteers at Shearith Israel's Women's Shelter again this year as part of our mission outreach program. The individual commitment this year is easier than in years past. Volunteers serve from 6 to 8 p.m. warm- ing up the dinner meal (provided by others) and serving as the women arrive from their daily work or job searches. The kitchen is cleaned up before leaving. Our volunteer dates are: Janu- ary 8-12 and February 5-9. If you can help on any of these dates, please e-mail Phyllis Grimes at grimes2230@bellsouth.net. Men are wel- come to serve also. There is also a need for do- nations of mittens, gloves, and hats. Collection baskets will be in MPC’s Welcome Center for your donations through Sunday, December 15.

Keep in your prayers...
Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
