WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY
Welcome to worship at Morningside Presbyterian Church. Please complete the information in the Friendship Pad at the end of the pews and pass the pads down and back again during the Concerns portion of worship. Worship notebooks and books for children are located in the library. Nursery for infants and toddlers is in Room 105; 2 year olds are in Room 012. Children ages 3-10 are invited to leave after the Passing of the Peace for special classes: Threes and fours - Room 011; K-1st grade - Room 003; 2nd-3rd grade - Room 001; 4th-5th grade -  Room 005.
SANCTUARY FLOWERS
The flowers in the sanctuary are given to the glory of God by Ann Bowers in celebration of her father Charlie’s 102nd birthday.
SERVICE MUSIC
The prelude this morning is a transcription of the slow movement from George Frederic Handel's Twelfth Concerto Grosso. The Bach chorale
prelude at the Offertory is from his Kirnberger Collection, and is an embellished prelude on the hymn tune "Liebster Jesu," which is #454 in our hymnal. The postlude "Chester" was one of the most popular tunes during the American Revolution and had both secular and sacred texts.
David Stills wrote these variations as a commission for the dedication of the new pipe organ in the Chester Presbyterian Church, Chester, VA.
Mr. Stills is an Atlanta native and a graduate of Morehouse College. He grew up in Ebenezer Baptist Church, and his family were close friends of the Martin Luther King family. David is Organist/Choirmaster at Warren Memorial Methodist Church.
LENTEN MISSION TRIP TO NEW ORLEANS
Our continued relationship with RHINO (Rebuilding Hope in New Orleans), an outreach founded after Hurricane Katrina, reflects MPC's desire to support long term recovery efforts. The cost is $225 for lodging at the Brent House Hotel, most lunches and some dinners.  Make checks payable to MPC and give them to trip leader Roland Behm by February 2 in order to join us March 12-16. Contact Roland with questions roland.behm @gmail.com or attend an interest meeting at 12:15 p.m. in Room 201 today.
YOUTH GROUP
Exciting summer plans for MPC Youth—we have eight registered for the “Montreat High School” conference and the "Rising 8th and Older" mission trip to Government Street Presbyterian Church in Mobile, Alabama. Registrations for the “Youth Track” mission camp, July 21-25, are due February 2 (completed 6th and older). Mission Camp registration forms for 2nd-5th graders will be available February 1. No Youth Group tonight due to the MLK Jr. Holiday. Youth Group continues 5-7 p.m. next Sunday, January 26.
WOMEN'S ROUNDTABLE
Women's Roundtable will meet on Monday, January 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Lynn Young (277 The Prado NE, 30309). We will enjoy dinner and fellowship as we welcome Leslie Grant, MPC member and newly sworn in to the Atlanta School Board, as our speaker.  RSVP to Sarah Brownlee at rsbrownlee1046@att.net.
LGBT & FRIENDS
LGBT & Friends upcoming program "Marriage Equality in the Church" will be facilitated by Baron Mullis. The discussion, including dinner, will be Tuesday, January 28 from 7-9 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. All are welcome. RSVP to lgbtandfriends @morningsidepc.org

SEASON OF SERVICE

Two weeks until our first Season of Service, a month of challenging you and your friends to participate in the wide variety of mission work MPC is involved with. Find time to check out a new outreach or bring an old friend or new member with you as you help out your regular one - meet the Plus 1 challenge!  MPC hopes you will get connected while helping those in need. Many pre-season outreaches are already taking place. We will kick off the event on Sunday, February 2 with the youth collecting the annual Souper Bowl offering and continue throughout the month to highlight outreaches and provide opportunities to volunteer.
SERVE AT CLIFTON
Volunteer to provide dinner at Clifton Sanctuary Ministries this Saturday, January 25. Make a dish, bring a friend, serve a homeless man in need of your support, and join us for dinner afterward in Decatur at Taqueria del Sol. Please bring your dish to the shelter by 5:30 p.m. (meal service lasts until 6:30 p.m.). Children are welcome! Sign up on the bulletin board or contact David Johnston (dmjohnst@gmail.com) for more information.
VALENTINE’S DAY GIFT CARDS
We invite you to donate a $10 gift card to CVS, Target, Publix, etc., as a Valentine’s gift for the women at Shearith Israel Shelter.  Place the gift cards in the bag on the mission bulletin board by Sunday, February 9 so they can de delivered with love - and cards made by kids - in time for February 14.

KEEP IN YOUR PRAYERS...

Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7
