Leader: Our help is in the name of the Lord,
People: who made heaven and earth.
Leader: Those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount
up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk
and not faint. - Isaiah 40:31

* THE OPENING HYMN 394 There Is a Balm in Gilead

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in
thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we
have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart
and mind and strength; we have not loved our neighbors as our-
selves. In your mercy forgive what we have been, help us amend
what we are, and direct what we shall be, so that we may delight
in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy
name. Eternal God, through Jesus Christ your Son.

THE SCRIPTURE READINGS Psalm 103: 1-4 (page 523 in the pew Bible, OT)

THE SERMON “Shalom” Baron Mullis

INVITATION TO INTROSPECTION
Leader: I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present
your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual
worship. - Romans 12:1

INTERCESSION FOR HEALING
Leader: God, our creator, your will for us and for all your people is health and salvation:
People: Have mercy on us.
Leader: Jesus Christ, Son of God, you came that we might have life and have it in abundance:
People: Have mercy on us.
Leader: Holy Spirit, dwelling within us, you make us temples of your presence:
People: Have mercy on us.
Leader: To the triune God, the source of all love and all life, let us offer our prayers.
Bidding Prayers will be offered.
Leader: Lord, in your mercy,
People: hear our prayer.
Leader: Into your hands, O God, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
People: Amen.

LAYING ON OF HANDS AND PRAYER
Leader: Gracious God, source of all healing, in Jesus Christ you heal the sick and mend
the broken.
People: By your Spirit, come upon all who receive the laying on of hands, that
they may receive your healing touch and be made whole, to the glory of
Jesus Christ our Redeemer.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and for-
give us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, for-
ever. Amen.
