Thought of the Week...
"Don't put a period where God has put a comma." - Gracie Allen
Tuesday, February 2, 7 p.m....
-Theology on Tap...Men of Morningside will gather at the home of Phil Regnault (1322 Berwick Ave., 30306). The topic is "The True Value of Social Capital." Make plans to join us!
-Crossing Political & Religious Borders to Share Water in the Holyland (Trinity Presbyterian Church)...Morningside is a co-sponsor of this interactive panel discussion focusing on both the ongoing water scarcity situation in the Middle East and the need for cross-cultural cooperation to address the problem. The panel features alumni of the Arava Institute, an organization built on the hope that young Muslim, Christian, and Jewish neighbors can build positive working relationships - even friendships - if given the venue, the support, and a common language. An oasis of learning in southern Israel, the Institute is the premier environmental teaching and research institution in the Middle East, preparing future Israeli, Palestinian, Jordanian, and other young leaders to cooperatively solve the region's environmental challenges. It truly is an amazing place, one that inspires and gives confidence in a future. The program is free to the public and no RSVP is necessary.
Sunday, February 7...
-Pick-A-Pan Sunday...Take home an empty pan from the narthex today and return it by 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 9 with the requested food to join us in providing lunch to 45 men attending the Common Ground program at Atlanta AIDS Faith & Health.
Souper Bowl Offering...
The Dougle Digits (4th-6th graders) invite you to give $2 for the Souper Bowl offering today. The collection will go to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
Congregational Lunch...
Join us in Fellowship Hall following worship today for a delicious lunch (shrimp and grits, chicken dish, vegetable frittata, mac'n cheese, green salad, and dessert). Suggested donation: adults $10, children $5.
Please see the attached flyer...about an opportunity to travel to Iran this summer for a "Dialogue of Peace" journey led by MPC member Peter Cobb.
Did you know...that Chris Henry, Mary Miller Brueggemann, Walter Huff, and Anna Best have something in common? They are all left-handed!
