Texts: Galatians 3:23-29; Luke 8:26-39

BAPTISM THIS SUNDAY
This morning, Joseph Henry Stewart, son of Rebecca and Andrew Stewart will receive the sacrament of baptism.

LAY READER
In keeping with the Presbyterian tenet of the priesthood of all believers, Morningside members participate regularly in worship leadership.  Today's lay reader is Daisy Ottmann.

VBS THANKS
The 55 children (and their families) who attended VBS this week are grateful for the many friends, members, staff and volunteers that participated to make this event happen. From donations to set up, working throughout the week and clean up at the end, you were all a big part of making the Marketplace come to life as the kids learned that Jesus is…the Son of David, a healer, a miracle worker, the bread of life and our shepherd. Our drama team also did a great job of telling the stories of Jesus at the well each day.

CONGRATULATIONS WALTER HUFF
Walter has accepted an appointment to the faculty of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University as an associate professor of Choral Conducting. This full-time appointment means that Walter's tenure as Organist/Choirmaster at Morningside will conclude on Sunday, August 18th. We will have many opportunities to express our deep gratitude to Walter for his 25 years of service to our congregation. Walter is advising our Human Resources team as we seek an interim director of music. A committee has been selected by HR to seek Walter's successor. That committee is comprised of Tami Giusto, Julie Green, Philip Hawkins, Bill Humphries, Rob Payne, Caroline Tanner, Trenton Tunnell and Sheryl Wingert, with Baron serving as an ex-officio member. Please pray for this search committee as they begin their work. For more IU information visit  http://info.music.indiana.edu/web/page/normal/24346.html.

WELCOME HOME BASKETS
Support our collection of items to assemble baskets of household goods for the men of Clifton. The men receive these baskets when they move into a new home so they are able to fill their pantries and cabinets with essentials. The VBS offering started off our collection. Please claim requests for items from the Welcome Center display and place your donated items in the baskets by July 14. Contact David or Katherine Johnston dmjohnst@gmail.com, kecjohnston@gmail.com with questions.

BACK2SCHOOL WITH GJP
The Georgia Justice Project will host its annual
back-to-school fair 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 at a community center four blocks from Turner Field.  New backpacks and school supplies are given to the families of GJP's judicial clients, so that the kids are ready for a new school year.  Sign up on the mission bulletin board or contact MPC Shepherd Bill Means billmeans@bellsouth.net or 404.234.9718 to help set up games and supervise activities, serve lunch, and be a friendly face to the families.

GO GET YOUR NAMETAG!
Don’t forget to wear your name tags on Sundays, including downstairs to Fellowship Hall, as it helps us all get to know each other. Your nametag is either on the kiosk right outside the sanctuary doors in the narthex, or if you usually park in the preschool parking lot, you may find your nametag on the board just inside the building in the preschool wing.

ICM FOOD PANTRY
Volunteers are needed to help sort food for ICM’s food pantry on Saturday, June 29 from 10:30 to 1 p.m at Briarcliff Methodist Church (Ponce and Briarcliff). If you can help, please sign up on the mission bulletin board or contact Nancy Collins ncollins0209@gmail.com.

MISSION CAMP
Our fifth year of It's Not All About Me Mission Camp is July 22-26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with an overnight adventure to Len Foote Hike Inn on Thursday. This hands-on experience with mission includes outreach to children and seniors, the environment and animals, and many who are facing hunger or homelessness here in Atlanta. With daily outings for 28, we need lots of volunteers to chaperone and drive and also dedicated overnight leaders willing to hike in and out to Len Foote. Please contact Melinda Sandkam to volunteer.

SUMMER FELLOWSHIP HOUR
Could you help coordinate Fellowship Hour during the months of July and August? If so, please contact Mary Chapman chapman.maryv @gmail.com, 404.234.0560.  Fellowship Hour is a snap if there are four people to provide a sweet, a savory, something fresh and the punch. If you can provide any one of these on July 7 or August 4, 11 or 18, please contact Daniel Easton  dje567@ymail.com.

SAVE THE DATE!
It’s not too soon to mark off October 25-27 on your calendar and plan to get away to cool and lovely Montreat, NC, for our fifth annual all-church retreat featuring speaker Tom Long!  Each year, it’s been an event to remember for the whole family.  Watch for details in the next couple of months.

SANCTUARY FLOWERS
A flower calendar is posted on the bulletin board in the hallway outside the Session Room, and if you wish to give flowers in honor or in memory of a loved one, we invite you to write your name and phone number next to the desired date. It is possible to share a date with other members if you want to give one arrangement or you may sign up alone to give both arrangements. Contact Anna Best in the church office office@morningsidepc.org for more information.

OUR SYMPATHY TO
Alex Bach  and family on the death of Alex’s mother, Gloria Schill, on June 15 in Florida; and to Van Jensen and family on the death of Van’s grandmother, Doreen Jensen, on June 15 in Nebraska.
