THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again. - William Penn

MAC FRAMPTON CONCERT
Join us this Friday, August 2, at 7:30 p.m. for a free concert with our famed pianist/member Mac Frampton. Donations will be accepted for the MPC Music Library. Invite a neighbor or bring a friend. For more information visit www.macframpton.com.

OFF TO SCOTLAND
As 23 MPC members and friends travel to Scotland on the church tour (August 3-12), please keep them in your prayers for safe travels. Twelve of the group will continue on to Iona - a worshiping community on an island in the Lower Hebrides on the far west of Scotland.

SUNDAY SCHOOL KICK OFF
The first week of August, many of the children at MPC start back to school! Here at Morningside, we begin our Sunday school year the following Sunday, August 11 at 9:45 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. All are welcome to this hour of fun, with light breakfast items. Crafts, dress-up corner, and Jonah's whale promise lots of fun. The kids will also participate in some outreach projects and hear details for children's choirs this year. Contact Jill Davis jdavis@tuxox.com, if you can help.

FAREWELL WALTER HUFF
MPC will honor our dear friend, Walter Huff, with a reception after church on Sunday, August 18. If you would like to contribute something to the Gala Occasion, please contact Susan Oder at susanoder@gmail.com or 404.308.6337. We look forward to letting him know how much we appreciate his many years of love and service to us.

MPP
Morningside Presbyterian Preschool still has openings for toddlers and Pre-K students for this fall. Toddlers must be 15 months old by September 1 and Pre-K children must be 4. Contact Sarah Tomaka, Preschool Director, for more information: mpp@morningsidepc.org

INTOWN COLLABORATIVE MINISTRIES
Through August 25 MPC will collect canned/boxed meals (stew, noodle bowls, chili, etc); crackers; and sugar packets for ICM's food pantry. They provide a range of comprehensive services to our neighbors in need in zip codes 30306/30307. Please bring your donated items to the Welcome Center baskets.

SAVE THE DATE!
It's not too soon to mark off October 25-27 on your calendar and plan to get away to cool and lovely Montreat, NC, for our fifth annual all-church retreat featuring speaker Tom Long! Each year, it's been an event to remember for the whole family. Contact Mary Chapman with any questions chapman.maryv@gmail.com.
