THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art...It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival. - C.S. Lewis

"THIS I BELIEVE" SUNDAY AND CONGREGATIONAL LUNCH
Included in our worship service this Sunday, August 25 will be our now-traditional "This I Believe" Sunday, featuring Morningside members speaking from their hearts. This year we'll hear from Joseph Green and David Wingert. Afterwards, we'll say goodbye to summer on a high note at our Congregational Lunch. We always plan for guests, so don't hesitate to join us in Fellowship Hall following worship to enjoy a burger bar from Yeah Burger and frozen yogurt from Yogli Mogli. MPC Youth will assist in serving the lunch as a thank-you for your support of their programs, and also will share about their summer trips.

EAGLE SCOUT COURT OF HONOR
Rhonda and Robert McIntosh with Boy Scout Troop 455 proudly invite you to attend the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Cameron Lewis McIntosh this Sunday, August 25, at 7 p.m. at Morningside Presbyterian Church. A reception and site dedication will follow. RSVP to Rhonda 404.876.2303, rimcin@bellsouth.net.

THINKING ABOUT JOINING MORNINGSIDE
Morningside will offer visitors the following opportunities to learn more about our church. On Sunday, September 8, we will hold an Inquirers Class followed by a New Members Class on Sunday, September 15. Both will be held in the Session Room at 9:45 a.m. For more information or to register, please contact Baron Mullis (404.876.7396, ext. 11; baron.mullis@morningsidepc.org).

INTOWN COLLABORATIVE MINISTRIES
Through August 25 MPC will collect canned/boxed meals (stew, noodle bowls, chili, etc); crackers; and sugar packets for ICM's food pantry. They provide a range of comprehensive services to our neighbors in need in zip codes 30306/30307. Please bring your donated items to the Welcome Center baskets.

CHURCH RETREAT
Plan to get away to cool and lovely Montreat, North Carolina, October 25-27 for our fifth annual all-church retreat featuring speaker Tom Long! Each year, it's been an event to remember for the whole family. Contact Mary Chapman with any questions chapman.maryv@gmail.com. Registration forms are available in the Welcome Center and Narthex.
