9:30 a.m. Coffee and Conversation

9:45 a.m. Church School for All Ages
Adults: A NEW ADULT CLASS IN RM 107 This Sunday, October 6, we continue a 10-week class using the History Channel mini-series "The Bible" at 9:15 a.m. We will watch one episode together and then at 10 a.m. we will have a guided discussion on the episode, what the Bible says, and what God might be saying to us today. This is a very approachable class and a great way to engage the Bible story anew or for the very first time. All are welcome.

The class in Rm 201 will continue their series on "Reading the Bible for Understanding" at 9:45 a.m. where we learn new tools for reading and understanding Scripture. Everyone is invited to the adult Sunday school class. Bring your questions, bring your thoughts, bring your brain, and bring your heart. All are welcome!"

Children: Pre-K class will hear A Girl Named Rebekah to learn how Abraham chose a wife for his son. Early elementary classes will consider an Old Testament messenger, Elijah, as he designs a contest to prove that God is real. 4th and 5th graders will be in worship.

PREACHING THIS SUNDAY
We welcome our pastor emerita, Joanna Adams, back to Morningside's pulpit this Sunday, October 6! Joanna will be preaching at our 11 a.m. worship service. We are excited to welcome back both Joanna and Al!

RHO READERS BOOK SALE
The RHO Readers will have a book sale during fellowship this Sunday. The books, donated by the group and MPC members, are priced to sell, with hardbacks at $1, paperbacks at 50 cents and children's books four for a dollar. All proceeds will go to charity. Be sure to stop by and see them following worship!

NEW GROUP FORMING
Have you aged out of Young Adults but not ready to admit you have One Gray Hair? Don't feel slighted - come hang out with us! You're church cares about you and has not forgotten you and wants you to know that you are very much needed. There's much fun to be had, ideas to ponder, questions to answer, and spiritual growth to be done....join us this Sunday, October 6, at 6 p.m. at the home of Leslie and Lloyd Prince. THEOLOGY ON TAP
Theology on Tap will meet tonight, October 1, at 7 p.m. Ken Sharpe will host (1700 Timberland Rd., 30345). This month's topic is bible 101. Baron will lead a discussion on who wrote it, when did it happen, and how can I follow the story? He will give an overview to understanding the Bible and will take questions. TAI CHI CLASS FORMING
Bob Wells and Doris Williams will begin a Fall class today, October 1 at 4:30 p.m. in Morningside's Fellowship Hall. If interested in improving flexibility and balance, contact Bob at wellscom@comcast.net to sign up. It's not too late!

RETREAT SIGNUPS
A record number of Morningside members will enjoy a relaxing weekend October 25-27 in the Blue Ridge Mountains at the All Church Retreat. If you would like to be part of the group, there is one room left. Contact Mary Chapman to signup chapman.maryv@gmail.com.

PAGEANT SIGNUPS
Signups begin today, October 1 to participate in MPC's annual Christmas Pageant on December 15. You may signup on the website and at the church. Registrations are due by Sunday, November 3. Please see the form for details regarding ages and practices.

OUR HOUSE
We are collecting mittens, gloves, hats, scarves, jackets, sweaters and Halloween costumes for children (infant-5 years) who attend the Our House preschool. Please bring your new/gently-used donations to the Preschool or Welcome Center by October 25. For more information, please see the Preschool bulletin board.

MISSION TRIP TO NEW ORLEANS
MPC's trip to work with RHINO (Rebuilding Hope in New Orleans) will be Wednesday, November 13 through Sunday, November 17. Cost is $200 and includes lodging with two lunches and dinners. If you would like to participate, contact Roland Behm roland.behm@gmail.com by October 7.

The Mission Team is working to plan an international mission trip during 2014 and needs your input. PRIDE SERVICE OF WORSHIP AND CELEBRATION
In recognition of 2013 Atlanta Pride, there will be a Service of Worship and Celebration on Thursday, October 10 at 7 p.m. at Morningside Presbyterian Church. All are welcome. A social time with refreshments will follow in Fellowship Hall.
