9:45 a.m. Church School for All Ages
Adults: A NEW ADULT CLASS IN RM 107 This Sunday, October 20, we continue a 10-week class using the History Channel mini-series "The Bible" at 9:15 a.m. We will watch one episode together and then at 10 a.m. we will have a guided discussion on the episode, what the Bible says, and what God might be saying to us today. This is a very approachable class and a great way to engage the Bible story anew or for the very first time. All are welcome.
This Sunday, October 20 at 9:45 a.m., the class in Room 201 will examine a few of the books left out of the Bible. Everyone is invited to the adult Sunday school class. Bring your questions, bring your thoughts, bring your brain, and bring your heart. All are welcome!"
Children: This Sunday, the three and four year-old children will read Plenty to Eat and discover how a famine reunites Joseph with his family. Elementary classes will meet Amos, God's messenger, who called people to live out God's justice - not just talk about it.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
A congregational meeting will be held this Sunday, October 20, immediately following worship for the election of a slate of Elders; a slate of Deacons; and the congregational representatives for the 2014 Officer Nominating Committee.

LGBT & FRIENDS
LGBT & Friends welcomes Kimberly Knight to facilitate its program tonight. Her topic is "Sharing Christianity with the Gay Community." Kimberly has a robust blog following and leads social media for ministry workshops across the U.S. The meeting, including dinner, will be in Fellowship Hall from 7 to 9 p.m. All are welcome. 3rd THURSDAY THEOLOGICAL THROWDOWN
We continue our study of the Lord's Prayer with the words, "Lead Us Not Into Temptation," this Thursday, October 17 at noon. Bring a lunch if you wish, and let's think about what those words mean.
LYDIA CIRCLE
The next meeting of the Lydia Circle will be this Thursday, October 17 at 7p.m. Rachel Spears will host. RSVP to Lele Ruby leleruby@bellsouth.net.
JUNGLE JAM
Morningside Presbyterian Preschool will hold its annual Jungle Jam this Saturday, October 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at MPC. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Co-Chair Mary Hardy Holaway at maryhardyh@gmail.com.
SUPPORT OUTREACH EVENTS
On Wednesday, October 23, the Interfaith Children's Movement welcomes supporters to its annual breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at The Temple. This year's guest speaker is Joanna Adams. We have a few spaces still available, and we would love for you to join us. Contact the church office to join the table.
FOOD TRUCKS
Once again, all are welcome from 5 to 8 p.m. for Food Trucks here in the MPC parking lot. Spread the word for Thursday, October 24. Bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket and enjoy an easy dinner.
ALL SAINTS' OBSERVANCE
All Saints' Day is a day of observance in the liturgical calendar of the church in which we celebrate the lives of those whose race is run, who have kept the faith, and whose witness lives on among us in the communion of the saints. In our communion liturgy, those who passed from this life this year will be remembered with thanksgiving to God for their lives and witnesses. If there are friends or family who died in the last year whose names you would like remembered in this prayer on All Saints' Day, please contact the church office.

to Ginny and Browning Fergus on the death of Ginny's mother, Mary Sorsby, on October 9 in Birmingham, Alabama.
