Life@Morningside for November 10, 2013

Baron Mullis preaching, "Another Fine Mess"

Texts: Psalm 98; Luke 20:16-38

SANCTUARY FLOWERS
The flowers in the sanctuary are given to the glory of God by Jim and Pat Antenucci with thanksgiving for grandson Carter (2 months old today) and granddaughter Lila (3 years old).
TODAY’S SERVICE MUSIC
The organ music today is from the French romantic period. Louis Vierne (1870-1937) was probably the greatest of the late French romantic organ composers. His style is clearly impressionistic as seen in the “Prelúde.” The effect of this piece is “almost that of a wistfully remembered carousel of long ago.” Vierne was organist at Notre Dame in Paris from 1900 to the end of his life. He died at the organ console as he was finishing a recital in Notre Dame. Jacques Lemmens (1823-1881) was Belgian, but taught many of the French organists, including Cesar Franck.
CONGREGATIONAL LUNCH
Join us this Sunday, November 10 at the Congregational Lunch following worship. Enjoy a delicious meal from Flying Biscuit (scrambled eggs, creamy dreamy grits, moon-dusted potatoes, chicken sausage and pork bacon, mini biscuits with apple cranberry butter, fruit, and cookies)!
