Baron Mullis preaching, "Do Not Be Weary"

Texts: Luke 21:5-19; 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13

WELCOME GUEST MUSICIANS
We are delighted to welcome guest ensemble Celli, composed of Atlanta-area cellists Mary Beth Bryant, Erin Cassel, and Jessica Messere. In addition to performing together as Celli, all three were recipients of a scholarship to study with Martha Gerschefski and are members of the Savannah Philharmonic. “Aria da chiesa” is an anonymous composition of the 17th century, formerly attributed to Alessandro Stradella, and frequently heard sung with the text "Pietà, Signore." Celli will also accompany the choir on “Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God,” in an arrangement specially written for this collaboration.
TODAY’S SERVICE MUSIC
The organ postlude today was written by C. S. Lang (1891-1971), a British organist, music teacher and composer. Lang studied with Charles Stanford at the Royal College of Music. His best known work is his "Tuba Tune" for organ. The boisterous melody begins in the style of Handel, but in the middle section has some brief key changes that belong to the 20th century.
YOUTH GROUP
Thank you to 19 youth, six volunteer adults, and three staff who were involved in our November Youth Service Night! We prepped and served dinner at Journey Shelter and baked goods for the Thanksgiving Gathering. This morning the youth will go bowling following worship instead of meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. They return to regular meeting time Sunday, November 24. Contact Chris Peters for more information on youth events!
OUTREACH IN NEW ORLEANS
Keep the eleven MPC members and friends in your prayers as they return from an outreach with Rebuilding Hope in New Orleans. Shirley Adair, Roland Behm, Shawn Holaway, Keith Isley, Todd Jones, Jack Klotz, Rhonda McIntosh, Leslie and Lloyd Prince, Raymond Tovo and John Watson are worshipping at St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian this morning before driving home.
ANNUAL CANNED FOOD COLLECTION
Our annual collection of non-perishable items for the Atlanta Community Food Bank is in full swing. Mac 'n cheese, peanut butter, canned veggies, meats, fruits and low sugar whole grain cereals are welcome. Help us fill our five canisters!
WOMEN’S ROUNDTABLE
Women's Roundtable will meet tomorrow, November 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Lynn Young (277 The Prado NE, 30309). We will enjoy food and fellowship as we welcome Rev. Dana Hughes as our speaker. RSVP to Sarah Brownlee rsbrownlee1046@att.net, or 404.876.3572.
LGBT & FRIENDS
LGBT & Friends welcomes representatives from CHRIS Kids, Lost-n-Found Youth and SAGE to facilitate this Tuesday, November 19 program "Giving Back to Others." The meeting, including dinner, will be at the home of Rob Payne, 1100 Balmoral Drive 30319. All are welcome. RSVP to lgbtandfriends@morningsidepc.org.
PREPARE A DISH FOR THOSE IN NEED
On Saturday, November 23 MPC will serve the evening meal to the men staying at Clifton Sanctuary Ministries. (This fourth Saturday is actually NOT Thanksgiving weekend this year.) Sign up on the Mission bulletin board to provide a dish and/or serve that evening, or contact shepherd David Johnston dmjohnst@gmail.com to find out specific needs.
FOOD TRUCKS
Enjoy one last fall Food Truck event this Thursday, November 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. Beat the sunset and join us early. There will be free S'mores! Spread the word to your neighbors. This is an easy stop on the way home to grab dinner. Contact Drew Stockstill to help with setup or cleanup.
YOUNG ADULTS
Following worship, next Sunday, November 24 the Young Adults will meet for lunch at George’s (1041 N. Highland Ave. NE, 404.892.3648). Please join us.
FREE HOLIDAY BABYSITTING
Tis the season of giving! Do you have two to four hours to give on Monday, December 2 (4:40-6:40 p.m., 6:20-8:20 p.m. or 4:40-8:05 p.m.)? We will offer free babysitting to our community for children 3 months through 5th grade. (Little ones MUST sign up by Monday, November 25.)  Help us line up volunteers for the event BEFORE the Thanksgiving holiday by signing up this week. To sign up your child or to volunteer, contact Jennifer James jennjames@comcast.net today!
BEHIND-THE-SCENES OF THE PAGEANT
Many thanks to the eleven youth who have volunteered to be the stage crew for MPC’s pageant.  We are still seeking people to sew one costume each. There will be a work evening for props and the set on Thursday, December 5 at 5 p.m. We are seeking someone to organize the soup/chili dinner that follows the pageant on Sunday evening, December 15. Additional youth will help to set up, serve and clean up for the event as their December service project. Contact Melinda to help in any of these areas.
TALK BACK TO THE PREACHER
If you've ever wanted to ask Baron more about something he's preached, or to hear what scripture teaches about something, and you don't happen to find yourself in a class or have the right moment, you are invited to come to Room 201 following worship on December 8.  We can talk about whatever you want to talk about - the sermon, the way we plan worship, what's going on in the Presbytery, or whatever! This is your chance.
OUR SYMPATHY TO
Jill and Jack Klotz on the recent death of Jill's father, Forrest Jones, in Savannah.

Christian Education at Morningside

Next Sunday, November 24 we conclude our Advent class taught by Rev. Dana Hughes. Dana is a professional Interim Pastor and former Moderator of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta. The Gospel of James provides a fascinating glimpse into the lives of Mary and Joseph and prompts an excavation through the layers of fact, fable and faith. Join us at 9:45 a.m. in Room 201.

"THE BIBLE" SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS...If you are interested in learning more about the story of Jesus in the Bible, join our class, next Sunday, November 24 at 9:15 a.m. in Room 107 as we make our way into the New Testament using the History Channel mini-series "The Bible." This class will take a break in December and resume in January. Breakfast and coffee provided.

CHILDREN’S CLASSES...The preschool class will hear the story What is It? to learn about the special food God provided for the people as they traveled through the desert. All elementary classes will hear the prophet Isaiah's promise of a new king and a reign of joy, peace, and justice.

Keep in your prayers...

Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.        - Philippians 4:6-7
