RHO Readers
RHO (Red Hat Optional) Readers is a general book club for all — members, neighbors and friends — who enjoy reading and chat. Feel free to view the list of the books we've read over the past years and some of our upcoming selections. The rules are simple: there’s no long-term commitment to join and everyone is welcome — even those who haven't actually read the book!
The group meets the third Sunday afternoon of each month at 12:45 p.m. in the Session Room for conversation and literary musings. Come join us any time! Daisy Ottmann is your contact for more information.
For at least the first three months of 2013, we've been pleased to book authors to join us for our discussion of their works. Here is the upcoming schedule:
March 17: Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer by Van Jensen and Dusty Higgins
Daisy Ottmann, leader
April 21: Sassy (poems) by Karen Head
Carol Senf, leader
May 19: TBD
Members continue make voluntary donations to a Pennies for Pages pot to be given to a literacy project at the end of the year. We also sponsor an annual used-book sale during our post-worship social time for two weeks in October. Build your library at rock-bottom prices and help outreach toward schools for refugee children.
In the past three years our efforts raised several hundred dollars which were divided between The Global Village School in Decatur and the Fugees Academy in Clarkston. Both of these institutions meet our goal of increased literacy among these new Americans.
